The Steady Leader Making the Case for Crypto

Last year was a big one for the cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase Global — it more than doubled its revenue to $6.6 billion. A big reason for this success? Alesia Haas. In a market known for its volatility, the CFO has “established a reputation as the reliable technician at the crypto carnival,” according to Barron’s, which named her one of the most influential women in finance in 2024. Haas has been outspoken about the need for comprehensive crypto legislation that provides more regulatory clarity, which she believes will unlock innovation, banking relationships, and new capital inflows. (Several major banks now offer crypto ETFs but are waiting to offer spot crypto trading.) With a crypto-friendly administration in the White House, that clarity may come soon. In the meantime, Haas will continue serving as a steady leader for Coinbase, which officially became the first crypto company to join the S&P 500 in May.
