Meet the CMO Helping Her Fellow Marketers Stay Ahead of the Curve
Marketing to marketers is an intimidating task, but Carryl Pierre-Drews is up for the challenge. In 2021, she joined the Interactive Advertising Bureau in a newly created role with the goal of elevating how the IAB tells its story to members, the industry at large, legislators, and the world. (The nonprofit was founded in 1996 to develop standards, conduct research, and provide legal support for the online advertising industry.) In 2022, she was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, responsible for the IAB’s marketing and communications and for securing IAB’s position as a digital, marketing, and media industry thought leader and agenda-setter. In 2024, that meant educating members on IAB’s efforts to keep up with rapidly shifting norms and rules for data privacy, streaming, responsible media, generative AI, and more. It’s a crucial task as the digital economy surges to $4.9 trillion, with a T.
