Jen Wong Is Helping Reddit Reach Record Success

In March 2024, Reddit became the first major social media company to go public since 2019. Helping steer the company to a successful $748 million IPO? COO Jen Wong. In fact, the 20-year-old company has now become annually profitable since going public, thanks in large part to Wong’s efforts to scale its global advertising into a billion-dollar business. (When she became COO in 2018, the company’s yearly ad revenue was less than $100 million.) Wong also cut lucrative data licensing deals with both Google and OpenAI to let the tech giants train their AI models using the platform’s posts. A vocal advocate for empathy and inclusivity in the workplace, Wong is the executive sponsor for the Trans@Reddit employee resource group, a role she says she took on because, despite being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, she didn’t have as much cultural fluency with the trans community as she wanted.
