The Accenture Exec Turning AI Hype Into Reality

Businesses love to talk about the transformative power of generative artificial intelligence. And yet, just 13% of executives say the technology has had a significant impact at their organization, according to a 2025 Accenture study. As the consulting behemoth’s Chief AI Officer, it’s Lan Guan’s job to bridge the divide between AI hype and reality. Since stepping into the newly created role in September 2023, Guan has championed the technology internally and spearheaded partnerships with major clients, including S&P Global, Nvidia, and ESPN to expand its AI capabilities. The results already speak for themselves: In its fiscal year 2024, Accenture brought in $3 billion in AI revenue — including $1 billion in the fourth quarter alone — and tripled its new generative AI revenue.
