MyHealthTeam’s COO Is Making Chronic Illness Less Lonely

Living with or providing care for someone with a chronic illness can be intensely isolating. Mary Ray, a breast cancer survivor, knows this all too well. So, in 2012, she co-founded MyHealthTeam, which creates digital spaces where patients and caregivers can connect with others who understand what they’re going through. As COO, Ray draws on her background in healthtech to lead engineering, content, and design across the company’s growing network of condition-specific social platforms. Today, MyHealthTeam includes more than 60 communities and 4 million members — momentum that earned the company a spot on Inc.’s 2024 list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies. Despite headwinds in the digital health space, MyHealthTeam was acquired by Swoop in early 2025, a move that will give the platform more resources to expand its reach.
