Meet the Exec Making TikTok the Top Spot for Gaming Marketing
In just a day following the release of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 last December, the #gta6 hashtag generated an eye-popping 10 billion views on TikTok. It’s just more proof of Rema Vasan’s successful efforts to turn the platform into a potent marketing tool for gaming brands. After joining TikTok in 2022, she was quickly tapped in 2023 to lead the company’s new global gaming business marketing team. Because 50% of TikTok’s daily active users view gaming content, Vasan says, brands are already seeing a massive payoff from their partnerships with the platform. Take, for example, the mobile game “We Are Warriors,” which used TikTok as its exclusive launch partner: TikTok drove 3.25 million installs of the game. In 2024, Vasan took on an expanded role and now leads TikTok’s marketing efforts for all North American business in addition to global gaming.
