Founder & CEO, Boulder Care
The CEO Expanding Access to Addiction Treatment
Nearly 100,000 Americans die from a drug overdose every year, and 50 million Americans struggle with a substance use disorder. Stephanie Strong founded Boulder Care in 2017 — the same year the opioid crisis was declared a national emergency — to chip away at those tragic statistics. A telehealth treatment provider for alcohol and opioid use disorders that’s already raised $85 million from investors, Boulder Care provides critical services for patients who don’t have transportation to attend appointments or lack access to providers in their area. In 2024, Boulder doubled the total number of patients in its care, expanded its services to several new states, and launched a new program called Pop-In Clinic, allowing patients — 80% of whom are covered through Medicaid — to see an addiction medicine clinician in less than an hour without an appointment. A fierce advocate for patients, Strong has spoken out about how potential cuts to Medicaid would reduce access to care for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
