Toyin Ajayi
Co-Founder & CEO, Cityblock Health
She’s Providing High-Quality Healthcare to the Patients Who Need It Most
In a healthcare system where many providers are struggling to stay open without dropping patients or charging exorbitant rates, Cityblock Health is proving that it’s possible to provide care that’s both cost-effective and high-quality by fully integrating primary care, behavioral health, and social services. The tech-driven healthcare provider was founded in 2017 to serve communities with complex needs: Approximately 86% of Cityblock’s more than 100,000 members are eligible for Medicaid or Medicare (or both), and roughly 83% have two or more chronic health conditions. And yet, the provider notched $1 billion in revenue in 2023. In 2024, it opened new community clinics in Brooklyn, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Cincinnati and launched five new partnerships with large insurers. That remarkable growth is thanks in large part to Co-Founder Toyin Ajayi, who was elevated to CEO in 2022. Ajayi — who was a medical doctor and community health nonprofit exec before launching Cityblock — now oversees a system with locations in six states and Washington, D.C.
