Christine Deputy
Chief People Officer, Pinterest
The Exec Making Pinterest the Most Parent-Friendly Workplace in Tech
Prior to becoming Chief People Officer at Pinterest in 2021, Christine Deputy served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Nordstrom, where she helped the retail giant achieve pay equity and pay parity. It made her the perfect person to help Pinterest meet its ambitious diversity goals and craft a workplace culture for a post-pandemic future. That included rolling out new programs like PinFlex, a flexible work model that provides the company’s 3,500 employees with autonomy over where they live and work while enabling in-person collaboration by covering travel and expense costs for employees who live outside of a commutable distance. In just one year, PinFlex improved employee retention and attracted new, diverse talent. Under Deputy’s leadership, Pinterest also offers some of the most generous parental and reproductive benefits of any social platform, including IVF and egg freezing assistance, 20 weeks of parental leave, adoption assistance up to $10,000, 4 weeks of paid leave for pregnancy loss, and 8 weeks of paid leave for parents of newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit.
