Issa Rae’s Production Company Is Promoting Diverse Storytellers Across the Media Landscape
Founded by multihyphenate Issa Rae, Hoorae is a multimedia company dedicated to promoting Black, women and underrepresented voices in entertainment. The company is an evolution of Rae’s separate creative business ventures combined into one multimedia company for TV, film, audio and events, plus a network of diverse, up-and-coming production talent as a pipeline to staff industry projects under the Hoorae portfolio. In 2023, ColorCreative, the management company housed under Hoorae, launched the yearlong Find Your People program for filmmakers, for a chance to pitch and receive funding to produce their projects. Find Your People has provided 20+ creators with mentorship and training to create and pitch a short film. Raedio promotes audio everywhere it’s consumed, from music, podcasts and audiobooks to the library, while Hoorae’s events arm helps promote Hoorae’s own TV and film projects, a slate that includes Insecure (HBO Original), Rap Sh!t (HBO Max), A Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO Original) and Sweet Life (Max Original).
